Ann Marie Brown made her first solo trip to Yosemite at age 22. Like many first-time visitors, she was immediately inspired by the Valley's sheer granite walls and shimmering waterfalls. Parking her car at the first trailhead she saw, she set off on the Four-Mile Trail. Carrying nothing but a water bottle, she intended to hike only a short distance but was so wowed by the scenery that she kept on walking. She hikes, camps, and bikes more than 150 days each year. A beautiful well laid out book. It tells you a lot about Yosemite, but less about Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Seeing I bought this book for Sequoia, it was not a worthwhile buy for me. I also wish that the book were larger and less cramped. But it is a good book and worthwhile as an introduction. You should buy some Sequoia maps from Amazon, which enhance the book a lot.

Best resource! We used this book to find our lodging, hikes (their ratings!), restaurants, etc. I found it so useful I purchased the Yellowstone book for next year.

If youâ€™re dealing with shingles you definitely want to read this book.The author did her own original research so itâ€™s full of information you wonâ€™t find anywhere else. She combines Chinese medicine (she's an acupuncturist) along with her personal experiences helping her mother fight her own severe attack of shingles. Hits the mark.

I tend to not give 5 stars just because that's a perfect score. This book may not be perfect but it really is very useful. I'm an acupuncturist and glad to have all this info. I'll also recommend it to my patients. The author became an expert in the treatment of shingles when her mother suffered terribly from it. She has tried several products for internal and external use in treating shingles and relieving some of the very unpleasant symptoms and lists them in the book. I definitely recommend the book to those with the disease or those who treat it. I hope the author writes more books on treating particular conditions naturally.

Again Ms. Bleecker has written a concise but complete guide to an ailment that affects a surprisingly large number of people. I relate! Recently my own mother suffered from shingles. Though it was relatively mild, it was obviously painful and embarrassing! Traditional medicine seemed to only go so far. This book puts the power back in the hands of the patient and those tasked with their care. Ms. Bleecker's tenderness toward her own mother is evident, and it clearly is the "back story" to this book.

I would recommend this book for anyone suffering from shingles, especially post peripetic pain. Only place I have found suggestions for pain relief and specific examples of what to try and how the herbs, etc work.

As with all of her books, trust Deborah to compile the relevant information and put it together in informative and easy to read, comprehensive format. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

Great reference book for when you just can't figure out why your faces aren't looking right. Good purchase for me.

More of a photo book than an actual guide to draw faces easier/better... i think their are like 5 pages of actual helpful pictures with text out of the whole book. And its not eactly thick, but still, thats why it should be filled to the brim with face info.

The book came in a bad condition for a new book. Bent edges, some slight black smudges on the cover and it doesnâ€™t look new at all judging by its cover, BUTâ€¦the content is very good, â€œmoreover, itâ€™s small and lightweight! A very gorgeous shortcut to learn the basics of portrait drawing.

Bought this for my 11 year old daughter after following the amazing art from @miss_led1 on instagram. The book has helped her take her portrait drawing to the next level and we are so happy this is helping her achieve her potential purpose! Cheers, great work and thank you!

Everything was great except a stain on the cover. A helpful, handy book for reminding yourself about basic anatomy without going through the whole anatomy book but not recommended for beginner.

"Portrait Drawing" provides tips on how to draw simple portraits of people using pencils. The author briefly described the basics of using a pencil to draw (like how to hold the pencil and the types of marks you can make). Then she showed how to draw a general face/head oval and place guidelines on it to help put the facial features in the correct spots. She then focused on drawing each facial feature at various angles and included male/female and age differences. She also provided sketches and some tips for creating expressions, skin tones, and different types of hair.The book was mainly illustrations showing how to block in the face and features from various viewing angles plus a number of the author's finished portraits. Overall, I'd recommend this book to artists who like examples and tips on creating portraits at unusual angles, as that seemed to be the strong point of this book.I received a free ebook review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

I really have no idea. More to the point, I never stop reading; I never go and have a coffee or do some other activity that will keep me away from the text. There are many reasons for this, and one of them is the sheer joy of how the book looks, once you get away from the depressing cover art. The inside pages are a mass of colour, of joyful photos, of stunning graphic design. This is one hell of a slick publication, quite apart from Johnâ€™s writing. The publisher has done him proud and produced a thing of beauty.As for the writing itself â€“ itâ€™s everything I would hope from the pen of John Irvine: wry, witty, warm, happy, sad, poignant. As for the promised â€˜hope and redemptionâ€™ â€“ well yes, though these are not the words I would have used, as they suggest something a bit wishy-washy and sentimental, or worse still, â€˜inspirationalâ€™. Iâ€™d have thrown the book across the room if it had been â€˜inspirationalâ€™ (metaphorically â€“ Iâ€™m reading it on a pc, so the practicalities might have stopped me).I should also mention that itâ€™s also a cracking good read. Itâ€™s about comradeship, about the way people touch each otherâ€™s lives in unexpected ways. About the Author

In addition to his role as host of The Land and the Book radio program, Charlie is an Old Testament scholar and an authority on Middle Eastern history and geography. They used history, current events, and Biblical prophesy including Daniel 9, Ezekiel 38, and Isaiah 32-32 to illustrate this. The book helped me to understand how ISIS/ISIL affects the Middle East conflicts, anti-Israel sentiments, and desires for material gain (gas, oil, and water). NOt for the faint of heart, we a left with hope at the end of this highly-recommended book.

This is an excellent small book. It gives a great but concise history of the Middle East and a really good explanation of the various groups vying for control there. It ends with a message to Christians to nonetheless be compassionate with individuals.

This is a really good book that helps you understand more fully what is going on in the Middle East and how it has evolved to where it is now. I'm a big fan of Charlie Dyer, who understands that part of the world better than most. This book doesn't leave you in despair but leaves you with hope, reminding us that God is still on his throne and still in control of all that goes on in our world.

Very well written. There is so much history to the Middle East region, and the author sorted out the various sects and tribes to explain their differences. The best message is that no matter what, God is in charge. His plan will prevail.

The author is so knowable about his subject and can explain it so well for such a complex situation. I bought this book alongside two other more generic "Memories for my Grandchild" books for my mom (divorced) and my inlaws (still married). Was planning on giving this to my mom and the other two to ILs, but man would this one have been awkward for my mom because I think it just assumes way too much about the grandmother and the family!- A whole section dedicated to questions about the grandfather that somewhat imply that they are still together (as another reviewer noted, asking about first kiss, when grandfather proposed, and why she loves him, etc etc.)- 2 entire sections that assume the grandmother went to college (one section that asks details about what she went to college for, another for vacation photos during college years)- The vacation photos during college years is a bit weirdly put together, saying something like, "Here are my wild and crazy photos from spring break!" -- even giving this to my MIL I feel a bit weird because she's so conservative (also that it doesn't seem necessarily appropriate for your grandma to be sharing her drunken topless beach sorority photos from spring break lol)- A section (which you can see in the preview) that says "We didn't always live in the US, here's how we got here..." -- and what if your family HAS always lived in the US? Or what if your family DOESN'T live in the US at all? Yeesh.I could probably go on.It's a great book all the same, but yeah, it only works well if you just happen to have a very traditional family who has led a very traditional life.

Horrible book with useless questions that will not provide your child with any significant appreciation or understanding of their grandparent which makes this particular book pointless to buy. If you are looking for a wonderful, heartfelt, and truly insightful keepsake with a broad array of in depth questions which allow grandma to write full responses on beautifully lined pages, in her own words, then buy "Grandmother, Tell Me Your Story" by Susan Branch instead. I originally purchased both because without being able to browse through them before purchasing, I didn't know which one would be better. The one by Susan Branch is amazing and exactly what I was looking for!!!

I bought this book as a gift to help "announce" our pregnancy. Unfortunately, there are about three pages dedicated to "When Grandma was in college" and pages 34-53 are about how "she met the love of her life," pictures from their wedding, etc. It's not exactly ideal for a grandma who wasn't married and didn't go to college. I wanted a book my mother could fill out about HERSELF, not about her husband. I'm sure this book will work well for some, but it would have been helpful to know how grandpa-based it was prior to buying. I would like to return it, but unfortunately, since it spent time wrapped up as a gift, the return date has lapsed.

I wish I had know there were several pages on grandma and grandpa. This was supposed to be a book on grandmas life for my child. I didn't want to include several pages on his grandparents relationship so me they divorced. Tearing them out left the book empty and I lost some other pages as well.

The pages only take a ball point or permanent pen, which is complaint #1. But my real complaint is that some of the questions were worded in such a way that, while it would've been easy to make this inclusive of step parents or adoptive parents, it's just not.You can do better designing this yourself online and ordering it to fit the needs of your family.

Not exactly what I expected, the book would be great for a Grandmother to give her granddaughter, but not masculine enough for my Grandson. Or maybe the graphics are just too babyish for my taste.however, the quality is excellent.

Too many pages dedicated to grandpa being the love of grandmas life and how the met. My parents are divorced and it would have been nice if the book just focused on grandma without having to single out divorced folks.

I had bought this book previously to make for my grandson, so I ordered it again. Although it covers everything, I was reminded of all the research it required and also asks a lot of really not necessary information. I trashed it for another grandchild and am going to look for another one.

I have been amazed by this book, how someone could come up with such beautiful detailed pictures. I've been using it and it definitely helps me relax! I'm coloring the first of the butterflies. I'm 64 and this book is the perfect way for me to pass the time weekday afternoons while waiting for the mailman in the community room! Highly recommended! And I hope there'll be more.

I ordered this for my wife and here is what she has to say: I just received the coloring book and it is very well done! Bravo! Pages are of a good quality and the patterns are crisp and clean-lined. This was not just thrown together. The patterns and pictures are varied, and there is something for all tastes. I especially like the geometric prints.Very generous offering with over a hundred patterns. There are no supplies with this and that keeps the price reasonable. Author does give some advice on what works best and what will not, and some suggestions of where to purchase supplies. I'd snatch it up if you are into this medium of art. I look forward to anything else Nitin might offer.

On removing the book from its packaging I was impressed with the cover. The colorful pattern on the black background was striking. After reading the intro and the tips page I browsed through the designs and there is a nice variety of images, several of which really appealed to me. I only found one thing distracting and that was the orientation of the portrait designs. They are placed so the bottom of the image is at the spine of the book and my natural inclination was to want to turn the book so the top of the image was at the spine. It's probably just me. I don't know if there is an official convention regarding this. Anyway, I look forward to getting some colored pencils so I can get started. I've always been somewhat of a doodler. Now I get to color someone else's doodles.

I am so glad I purchased this Adult Coloring Book by Nitin Mistry in particular.When you open this book your mind starts thinking and relaxing since it takes you to your childhood days of coloring.It has 23 Mandala patterns which are unique.19 Landscape patterns which are the best.17 Animal patterns and my favorites are Doggy,Cat,Owl,Dolphin,Lion and Butterflies.I intend framing them once I color them.Author gave the tip of taking copies and trying the coloring first or to color same pattern in different colors.This is one activity the entire family can do together and its fun.This is so stress relieving and every one can become an artist for once.This will be a good gift item for Kids,adults and grand parents to help them become young again coloring.This is the best Adult Coloring Book out there after comparing.I recommend this to every one.

This is a very fun project. I ordered two books. One I cut off the spine so I could photocopy the drawings for coloring. This way I can use a specific page and color it many different ways. The other book, I kept intact and show it to friends and family so they know what it looks like.

I just received my soft cover edition and the art work is extremely inviting. I have been a fan of Nitan and his wife for several years and their attention to detail and quality are top notch. The designs are eloquent and the white space for coloring is well thought out.

This is the first book of mandala art that I have purchased. I have looked at others, but this one has a lot of variety. I am very happy with my purchase. Some pictures are more intricate than others, so I can choose a page that works with my time schedule and what is going on in my life. I save more intricate ones for higher stressed days or bigger spaces of time. It is a great creative outlet. I highly recommend this book.
